UConn and Illinois have already met this season - the No. 2-seeded Huskies topped the No. 3-seeded Illini 74-61 at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 28 - giving bettors a useful reference point heading into this Final Four rematch. That said, both rosters have evolved considerably since November, which plays a central role in my David Mirkovic wager.

In addition to backing Mirkovic to have a successful scoring day as part of our March Madness predictions, my Illinois vs. UConn player props back Tarris Reed to continue to be a force on both ends of the floor and sell high on Keaton Wagler's shooting.

Tip-off for the first of two Final Four matchups is set for 6:09 p.m. ET (TBS/truTV) at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, with Illinois installed as a 1.5 to 2.5-point betting favorite depending on the book.

David Mirkovic Over 12.5 points (-114 via FanDuel) 1u → 0.88u Mirkovic should exploit a defensive matchup against Alex Karaban

Tarris Reed Over 12.5 rebounds + assists (+102 via bet365) 1u → 1.02u Reed should add plenty of assists if Illinois chooses to double in the post

💰 Best Illinois vs. UConn prop bet for the Final Four

Follow all of our college basketball analysis and expert predictions for March Madness.

David Mirkovic Over 12.5 points (-114)

David Mirkovic scored just eight points in the first matchup against UConn. But two big things stood out: Mirkovic went 0-for-4 from 3-point range and he attempted three free throws.

Since that clunker against the Huskies, Mirkovic has 15 games with multiple threes, versus just six games where he did not make a single 3-pointer. In addition, he is one of five Illini players with a 30.5% free throw rate, so he should have more than three attempts against a UConn defense that ranks in the bottom-20 in percentage of opponents’ points coming via free throws (24%).

📡 SBR Edge: The big free throw disparity

While UConn's defense ranks 307th with a 40.5% free throw rate allowed, Illinois is the best in the country at keeping teams from the charity stripe, with opponents shooting free throws at just a 19.4% clip.

Keaton Wagler Under 2.5 3-pointers made (-140)

Keaton Wagler is coming off scoring 25 points, tied for the most by a Big Ten freshman in an Elite 8 game or later.

Illinois’ offense is heavily predicated on exploiting mismatches, just as it did in the first matchup against UConn with Kylan Boswell, whose 25 points matched the rest of the Illini starting five. If it falls in love with the Mirkovic-Karaban matchup, that means less opportunities for Wagler.

Wagler has come a long way since that three-point output against the Huskies and is a big part of an offense that ranks 15th in 3-point attempt rate. But UConn should drape the freshman with its best perimeter defenders, and only four players outside of the Furman game have made multiple threes against the Huskies in the last five games, with none making at least three.

🟠 All eyes on Wagler

Our Rob Paul is also focusing on projected top 10 pick Keaton Wagler in his Illinois vs. UConn prediction.

Tarris Reed Over 12.5 rebounds + assists (+102)

Tarris Reed has been a man possessed in the NCAA Tournament, and head coach Dan Hurley is getting everything out of the center’s uptick in usage from 25.4% in the regular season to 30.6% through four games of March Madness.

I am targeting Reed’s combined rebounds and assists prop as those two categories are where Reed has drastically seen his numbers increase from the regular season. Reed’s offensive and defensive rebounding rates are at 18.6% and 33.6% over the last four games, up from 13.4% and 23.2% in the regular season, respectively.

And while teams are doubling Reed more in the post, his assist rate is up nearly 4% from the regular season to 22.3% in the NCAA Tournament.

🚀 Illinois vs. UConn same-game parlay: Final Four 2026

My other Illinois vs. UConn SGP is listed at +6269 odds, while Phil Wood shares his Michigan vs. Arizona SGP at +3000.

It is a bit of good news/bad news from a value standpoint with three same-game parlay, as bet365 is the only of our best sports betting sites offering a combination wager of rebounds and assists.

bet365 has more confidence in Mirkovic scoring 13-plus points, as its -125 odds for the Over are steeper than FanDuel's -114 price. And while I wouldn't normally advise paying as high as a -170 price (62.96% implied odds) for any individual wager, Wagler's Under of 2.5 3-pointers plays nicely as one of three legs in this same-game parlay.

💵 Illinois vs. UConn SGP picks

  • David Mirkovic Over 12.5 points (-125)
  • Keaton Wagler Under 2.5 3-pointers made (-170)
  • Tarris Reed Over 12.5 rebounds + assists (+102)

Best odds: +477 via bet365 (0.5u -> 2.39u)

💡 How I'm betting Illinois vs. UConn props: Final Four strategy

All three wagers are one-unit plays, given the value we're getting on each.

The Under on Wagler's 3-point prop was juiced as high as -185 at bet365 early in the week. But the odds difference is still just as eye-popping from the low end of the market for Over backers. Bettors are getting +135 odds for the Over of 2.5 3-pointers made at bet365, while the -150 odds for the same wager at DraftKings carry a 60% implied probability at a fraction of the payout.

Either way, the fact that my three units at risk would only return a max profit of 2.61 units is why I'm getting a little more aggressive with the same-game parlay, risking 0.5 units when I normally only risk at most 0.25 units on such bets.
